When I joined Durgadevi Saraf Global Business School (DSGS) for my PGDM, I knew I wanted to build a career in business, but I didn't fully understand how the concepts we learn in the classroom would prepare me for the corporate world. Looking back today, I can confidently say that my journey at DSGS gave me the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills that continue to help me in my professional career.
Choosing Marketing
One of the most important decisions I made during my PGDM was choosing Marketing as my specialization. It completely changed the way I looked at businesses, customers, and problem-solving.
The learning experience at DSGS went far beyond textbooks. Every lecture encouraged us to think strategically, understand consumer behaviour, and analyse real market situations. What made the biggest difference for me was the guidance from our faculty members. Their industry knowledge, practical examples, and constant encouragement helped me connect classroom learning with real business challenges.
Looking back, the marketing mindset I developed during my time at DSGS is something I continue to use every day in my career.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
While academics formed a strong foundation, some of my most memorable experiences happened outside the classroom.
Participating in the Versus Tournament taught me the importance of teamwork, competitive thinking, and resilience. Every competition pushed me to perform better while helping me build confidence under pressure.
Another unforgettable experience was Sabrang, where I had the opportunity to improve my presentation and public speaking skills. These activities helped me become more comfortable expressing my ideas and communicating with confidence, skills that are equally important in the corporate world.
Building Confidence for the Corporate World
One of the things I appreciate most about DSGS is the balance between academics and co-curricular activities. The institute doesn't just focus on helping students earn a degree—it creates opportunities to develop leadership qualities, communication skills, and the confidence to face professional challenges.
Those experiences helped me become a more well-rounded individual and prepared me for the transition from campus life to the workplace.
Looking Back
Today, as an HNI Relationship Manager at Anand Rathi, I often find myself applying the lessons I learned during my PGDM journey. Whether it's understanding customer needs, building relationships, or approaching challenges strategically, the foundation built at DSGS continues to support my professional growth.
I'm grateful to the faculty, mentors, and everyone at DSGS who played a role in shaping my journey. My time at the institute wasn't just about earning a qualification, it was about discovering my strengths, building confidence, and preparing for a successful career.
